Becoming Tiffany
Until last night, I didn’t know Louis Comfort Tiffany was as Hudson School painter. But thanks to Howard Zar, who is the Tzar of Lyndhurst I was charmed by a series of Tiffany’s landscapes, presented in a stunning exhibition of his work, and his relationship to the Gould family, whose Gothic Revival style home in Tarrytown is a national landmark. It seems likely that back in the day, Jay Gould the railroad magnate, and Louis C. were neighbors in Irvington, and also on Fifth Avenue. It is this source and supposition that fuels a stunning exhibition, which ArtsWestchester was pleased to support. The exhibition opened on a rainy night at the Lyndhurst spring gala. The rain held off whilst 200 guests munched and feasted their eyes. The arts in Westchester—they just get better and better.
